Ahhh-MAZ-ing!!!

What better way to start the new year than exciting new fireworks and a visit from good friends!  As you know from reading our blogs, Magic Kingdom and Epcot have had nightly fireworks for years.  Hollywood Studios has had them occasionally for special events or holidays (though we’ve never seen them).  However, starting at the
end of 2015 for a "limited time", there have been nightly fireworks at Hollywood Studios called “Symphony in the Stars: A Galactic Spectacular”.  Set to a Star Wars theme and timed to the music of John Williams, these fireworks are absolutely amazing!!  There are pyrotechnics we’ve never seen before, and especially with the
musical score, the Star Wars saga comes alive.  For some reason I didn’t take my camera the first time we saw them in January so these photos are from a couple of subsequent visits that month.  Yep, we’ve seen them a few times now, and pictures just can’t do them justice! (Remember, you can click on any photo to enlarge.)

One of those times was with our good friends, Chip and Jill, who stayed with us a couple of nights on their way to spend a couple of weeks at their timeshare.  You may remember them as our co-hosts in Yellowstone.  Since they were here on a weekend, didn’t have Disney tickets, and we couldn’t use ours
anyway, we found another way for them to see these new fireworks.  We found a place to park near the Boardwalk area, walked over to Hollywood Studios, sat ourselves on some benches along Bay Lake just outside the entrance, and waited for the show to begin.  Even
though you can’t hear the musical score from there (which does add to the experience), they still found them amazing and spectacular!  Their visit was way too short, but we still enjoyed spending time together, catching up on life, sharing meals, stories, and laughter.

The end time for “Symphony in the Stars” has continually been extended, and now they are due to be enhanced this summer adding lasers, light projections, fire, and other special effects.  They are already something not to be missed so can’t even imagine how much more spectacular they are going to be!  Have we mentioned that they are simply ahhh-MAZ-ing!?! These are definitely our new favorite Disney fireworks!
