August brought family from NJ down
to Orlando for a weeklong visit, all 10 of them! After two nights staying at my
hotel, they moved to Disney’s Grand Floridian for the remainder of their stay. Once there, I was able to spend more time
with them just hanging out since I couldn’t really at the Omni. On the last day they were in
town we met Bill
and Terri at Epcot since the summer blackout dates were now over on our annual
passes. The four of us had lunch at Coral Reef Restaurant, a very cool place
to dine with its big glass windows looking into the park’s giant aquarium
(though if you think too hard about it, it can be a little unsettling to be
eating seafood
while watching all the creatures swimming by!) After lunch we
wandered around the shops, had our traditional margarita in Mexico , a beer in Germany , and finally caught up with
the rest of the gang who looked a little hot and tired. All too soon it was time for them to head
home but what a great visit!
Another thing that happened in August was that I became the hotel’s Loyalty Ambassador. What’s a Loyalty Ambassador you ask? Think of it as a personal concierge for our frequent guests who are members of Omni’s loyalty program, assisting them with upcoming reservations, making sure their requests are noted and accommodated, and handling any issues that may arise during their stay.

The 21st International Food &
Wine Festival began in September, which also meant time for its Eat to the Beat concert series held at
the American Pavilion featuring an incredible line-up of top name entertainment
with different artists every few nights.
Each performs three 40 minute shows nightly, and one of our favorites is
Starship
(www.starshipcontrol.com/).
As always they were phenomenal! Mickey Thomas definitely has not lost his
voice, and Stephanie Culvert handling the lead vocals with him is amazing! They sang such Starship hits as Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now, Somebody
to Love, and at both shows had the place rockin’ with We Built This
City. A great way to end the month!
